Faith-Based Service

Through our partnership with Haygood United Methodist Church, located just two miles away at 4713 Haygood Road, Virginia Wesleyan University offers a wealth of service opportunities for students throughout the semester. These opportunities allow students to give back and make a meaningful impact in the community. Some of the ways to get involved include:

  • Backpack Program – Packing food for children facing food insecurity at Luxford Elementary.
  • H.A.R.K. (Haygood Acts of Random Kindness) – Engaging in various community service projects.
  • Youth Group Engagement – Participating in youth group programs and events.
  • Haygood Preschool Assistant Teachers – Assisting preschool teachers and supporting young children in their learning.
  • Community Garden – Planting and harvesting in the community garden.
  • Appalachia Service Project – Serving communities in need in the Appalachian region.

These initiatives provide students with hands-on opportunities to serve, grow in their faith, and build relationships with the local community.
