Center for Advancement

The Center for Advancement at Virginia Wesleyan University is seeking Part-Time Outreach Center Specialists to work in the Advancement Outreach Center. The position entails soliciting gifts over the phone for The Excellence Fund and other priority designations for the University while updating alumni, parent, and community members' contact information. 

Hours: Monday – Thursday 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM (16 hours per week maximum)
Rate: $9.00 per hour
Requirements:

  • Customer Service/Call Center experience (preferred).
  • Must possess dynamic, professional and articulate telephone communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate ability to engage prospective donors (alumni, parents, community members) in a positive, friendly and outgoing manner while accurately collecting, relaying and tracking information.
  • Must be dependable, punctual and customer-service oriented.
  • Must demonstrate a strong belief in the importance of philanthropy and a commitment to the success of Virginia Wesleyan University. 
  • Must possess strong multitasking skills. Typing skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and browser-based systems. Queue management experience a plus.
  • Training on Outreach Center system and scripts will be provided.

Center for Enrollment Services

The Center for Enrollment Services at Virginia Wesleyan University is seeking part-time Wesleyan Ambassadors. Students in this position represent the university and showcase what it means to be a Marlin. Wesleyan Ambassadors are the connection between prospective students and have the power to strongly influence the decision to attend VWU. Students must have a positive attitude and the ability to connect with strangers. Prospective students and their families come to the Ambassadors for the inside scoop of Virginia Wesleyan!

Hours: Ambassadors can work as few as 2 hours per week or as many as 8-10. Tours leave at 11am and 2pm Monday through Friday and 11am on Saturday. Ambassadors are expected to arrive at 10:30am and 1:30pm accordingly.
Rate: $7.25 per hour
Expectations:

  • Give tours, attend monthly training, miscellaneous office tasks, and work special events such and Marlins Day and Dinner on Us.
    Professionalism both in terms of appearance, work ethic, and interactions with guests both on and off the clock are a must.
  • Communication with the Ambassador Program Directors is important. If an email or message is sent out that requires a response, the expectation is to reply as soon as possible.
    Project your enthusiasm for VWU! The message should be appropriate and never negative.

Center for Student Engagement

The Wesleyan Activities Council (WAC) provides social, educational, and community-building activities on campus, with a strong focus on weekend events. WAC is the primary programming arm of the Office of Student Engagement, thus it supports the mission of the office.
Duration: Academic Year 2020-2021
Requirements:

  • Event Supervisors who must be full-time undergraduate students in good standing with the University and maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
  • Supervisors must be a positive representation of VWU and its core values.
