President’s Council for Inclusive Communities

President Scott D. Miller introduced the President’s Council for Inclusive Communities (PCIC) in 2016 as a means of further enhancing the University’s institutional commitment to supporting all faculty, staff, and students.

The PCIC spearheads efforts to understand and address key issues while providing resources and support for students who bring diverse experiences and perspectives. It ensures that Virginia Wesleyan fosters an environment that honors differences and amplifies the voices of all members of the campus community.

From purpose to function, the PCIC leads the institution in offering programs designed to enhance the educational value of the campus community through purposeful dialogue and celebration of difference. The council consists of the University's designated council members from key institutional areas: Academics, Athletics, Student Activities, the Lighthouse, and the Robert Nusbaum Center. The council members are appointed by the president of the University. The provost and vice president for academic affairs and senior vice president serve as co-chairs of the council. The PCIC meets monthly, at the calling of the co-chairs or president of the University, to discuss events and initiatives.
