The Frank and Jane P. Batten Distinguished Scholar Award is the highest honor presented to Virginia Wesleyan University faculty. With the establishment of the highly selective, elite Batten Honors College in 2017, the award is presented to a Batten Professor in the highly selective, elite Batten Honors College for outstanding teaching and scholarly achievement. Funded by an endowment, the recipient receives a cash stipend and posting on a permanent plaque.
