Virginia Wesleyan University is proud to announce that William “Bill” Gobble ’03 has been named chair of the Alumni Council. VWU’s Alumni Council works to strengthen the bond between graduates and the University. The Council also advocates for VWU and provides support for enrollment and advancement programs.

As a student at Virginia Wesleyan, Gobble was an active and engaged member of the campus community. He majored in the Liberal Arts Management Program (L.A.M.P.)—now known as Management, Business, and Economics—and served as co-captain of the Men’s Basketball Team under longtime Head Coach Dave Macedo.

Since graduating, Gobble has built a distinguished career spanning more than 22 years with American Funds, where he specialized in financial and operational risk management. His professional journey reflects the same dedication, integrity, and leadership that characterized his time as a student-athlete at VWU.

Now, as chair of the Alumni Council, Gobble brings his experience, enthusiasm, and Marlin pride to the forefront—continuing to strengthen the bond between alumni and their alma mater while advancing the University’s mission and community spirit.
