Mike Candrea and Brandon Elliott headline First Pitch Coaches Clinic and Dinner

Two of the most successful softball coaches in NCAA I and III history shared center stage at Virginia Wesleyan University this weekend. Following extensive classroom and field sessions at TowneBank Park, the weekend culminated with the First Pitch Dinner in the Cunningham Multi-Activity Center in the Jane P. Batten Student Center on Saturday night. Coaches and teams from throughout the region participated in the weekend activities. 

Candrea retired from coaching after the 2021 season after 34 years as head coach at the University of Arizona. He also coached USA Softball and earned an Olympic goal medal. He is currently the acting AD at UA. Elliott has won nearly 600 games, 14 ODAC championships, and three national championships in 16 years at the helm of the Marlins. He also serves as Assistant Director of Athletics for Advancement.
