The Virginia Wesleyan University Athletics Department has unveiled a completely redesigned website, courtesy of the Marlins' new website provider – SIDEARM Sports. SIDEARM Sports is one of the biggest brands in college athletics as they have partnered with numerous colleges and universities across all three NCAA divisions as well as NAIA and the NJCAA. The website went live on August 12, 2020.
The new design is fully responsive, allowing users to easily access the website on multiple platforms (mobile, desktop, tablet). The redesign also features new looks to the team roster and statistical pages, larger images on story pages, and easy navigation to specific areas for fans and prospective student-athletes, while still providing the comprehensive coverage of Virginia Wesleyan's 22 athletic teams that has been a staple of the Marlins athletic website.
Virginia Wesleyan is the sixth ODAC school to switch to SIDEARM with a seventh ODAC institution making the move later this summer as well. Washington & Lee, Sweet Briar, Shenandoah, Randolph, and Hollins are the other five ODAC schools who utilize SIDEARM Sports for their athletics websites.
"Transitioning to SIDEARM Sports is an exciting experience to be a part of," said Alysse Scripter, Virginia Wesleyan sports information director. "I look forward to expanding the Virginia Wesleyan brand and developing the new website utilizing various features supported by the SIDEARM Sports platform."
A new feature on the schedule pages will be a history page for each match-up. By clicking on the "history" link, visitors will see the history of the selected match-up, including the record between the two teams, streaks, scores and a full game-by-game history. The history pages will continue to be updated as past schedules are collected and loaded into the SIDEARM Sports system.
New pages will continue to be added and updated to the new vwuathletics.com in the upcoming months.
