In a world where continuous learning and skill enhancement are key to career advancement, the chance to participate in a high-quality, no-cost professional development workshop is a real opportunity. And the Virginia Wesleyan University Global Campus, in collaboration with the Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development, has been at the forefront of offering this kind of transformative experience.
VWU Global Campus is meeting the needs of the modern workforce through a wide range of workshops. From "Logistic Supply Chain Management" to "Entrepreneurship," and from "Web Design with Google" to "Grant Writing for Beginners," these workshops are designed to equip participants with skills that are highly valued in today’s job market. The workshops cater to a broad audience, including those looking to break into a new field, professionals aiming to upskill, and individuals seeking to secure industry-recognized certifications.
Lee Burke’s experience with the IT certification workshops underscores the value of these offerings. "As someone who has been in the IT world more than 25 years, the thing that nagged me the most was that I didn’t have any IT certifications,” says Lee who is a systems administrator at Jacobs Technology/NASA Langley. “At this point in my career, I pretty much gave up on the idea of going back to school or paying a considerable sum of money for an accelerated bootcamp course.” Lee says that since the workshop was free, it was really a no-brainer.
Lee’s experience highlights not only the educational benefits of the workshops but also the community and network that come with them. "I have learned a lot of tricks of the trade that I was more than willing to pass on to my fellow students," he mentions, illustrating the collaborative environment fostered by VWU Global Campus. This mentorship aspect enriches the learning experience, providing both novices and seasoned professionals with a platform for mutual growth.
Burke’s progression from the Prep Workshop to achieving his first IT certification embodies the tangible outcomes possible through these programs. "After 8 weeks of the prep course, I decided to move into the Core 1 and Core 2 part of the curriculum," Burke recounts, highlighting the structured pathway provided by VWU Global Campus towards certification and beyond. His advice to prospective students is clear: "I would highly suggest that anyone who wants to achieve an A+ certification to take the courses offered at Virginia Wesleyan."
The no-cost workshops offered by Virginia Wesleyan University Global Campus represent a significant leap towards democratizing education and professional development. Through a comprehensive curriculum that spans across essential and emerging fields, VWU Global Campus is not only enhancing the employability of individuals but is also contributing to the vitality of the workforce.
