Student Spotlight: Samantha Scelta '25 & Sandra Abdellah '24

VWU students go above and beyond for Tidewater Collegiate Academy students

University News | July 3, 2023

Student Spotlight: Two remarkable VWU students stepped up at the last minute to lead an entire day of Get Slimed activities at Tidewater Collegiate Academy's Camp in June. Samantha Scelta ‘25 and Sandra Abdellah ‘24 made all the preparations for a day of fun and learning, going above and beyond by organizing activities and materials. They even collaborated with Professor Wendy Scott, Founder and Director of Tidewater Collegiate Academy, to set clear goals for the students' lab demonstration.

“The kids absolutely loved the students being there, and asked when they were coming back,” said Professor Wendy Scott. “Our parents were also impressed to have VWU budding scientists engaged with the program.”

The Tidewater Collegiate Academy at Virginia Wesleyan University is an innovative laboratory for teaching and learning that extends from the primary grades through high school with early college, dual enrollment opportunities housed in the Frank Blocker Youth Center on campus.
