Softball's Sarah Prosser Named VaSID Rookie of the Year

Freshman outfielder making waves across the state

Virginia Wesleyan University's three-time National Champion softball program can add another accolade to its growing list of accomplishments, as rising sophomore Sarah Prosser was recently awarded the VaSID All-State Rookie of the Year, recognizing her outstanding accomplishments throughout the recently-concluded season.

As lead-off hitter for the Marlins, Prosser showcased her exceptional skills, leading the conference in hits and boasting an impressive .412 batting average. This young student-athlete also contributed 16 RBIs, scored a team-high 43 runs, and stole an astonishing 38 bases, displaying her fast speed and agility. With her 70 hits, she became the first player in program history to have 70 hits, was selected First-Team All-Region, 2023 NCAA Softball Regional All-Tournament team, and First-Team All-Conference.

The Marlins are looking forward to the off-season as they prepare for next year!
