University News | January 22, 2025

Virginia Wesleyan University Online is once again attracting attention in national rankingsThe University has been selected for inclusion among U.S. News & World Report’s “2025 Best Online Program Rankings.”  The University’s entire catalog of online bachelor’s programs is recognized as a whole, and singled out in discipline-specific categories which include VWU’s online Bachelor’s in Business Program, Master's of Business Administration (MBA) Program, and Master’s in Education Program.

Distance-education offerings are evaluated by U.S. News at the program level using data gathered directly from each program. Methodologies are based on a number of factors, including student engagement, services and technologies, faculty credentials and training, and the expert opinion of high-ranking academic officials. Only degree-granting programs at regionally accredited institutions that are offered primarily online were considered for the rankings.

For the 2025 edition, approximately 1,780 online degree programs were assessed with the vast majority of them ranked. The rankings measured overall academic quality at the baccalaureate and master's levels across disciplines such as master's in business (MBA and non-MBA programs), criminal justice, education, engineering, information technology, and nursing. For a more targeted search, they ranked undergraduate programs specific to business degrees and psychology degrees, and produced specialized rankings in some master's level disciplines, such as electrical engineering and nursing administration.

VWU Online offers the following online degree programs for those looking to further their education and improve career-related skills: Online Master’s Degree Programs; Online Bachelor’s Degree Programs, Associate Degrees, and Certificate Programs; and Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning.

In addition, the Jane P. Batten and David R. Black School for International Studies is based at Virginia Wesleyan University and Lakeland University’s (WI) collaborative campus in Tokyo, Japan. Through a concurrent enrollment agreement between the two universities, students at the Batten & Black School can access unique opportunities across all three campuses.
