Community invited to participate in student-led business conference Nov. 12-16

Marlin Prestige Business ConferenceUniversity News | November 12, 2018

Virginia Wesleyan University’s student-led Business Conference—the Marlin Prestige—begins today and will run through November 16. Members of the community are invited to participate in free workshops, presentations and interactive panels that embrace the fall theme, "The Business of Everything."

The biannual conference is the culmination of months of hard work by students in the Virginia Wesleyan business course, "Principles of Management." Students coordinate all aspects of the event, exercising key management skills like product development, networking, and project and financial planning.

“We aspire to show our student body at Virginia Wesleyan University that business has no boundaries,” says student Josh Hanson, Chief Executive Officer of the conference.

The week-long event will feature a variety of guest speakers, among them Dave Garraty, VWU Professor of Management, Business, and Economics (by invite only); Sergeant Chris Tull, Virginia Beach Police Department; Dr. Scott Ramsey, a VWU graduate and Executive Director of the Alaska Outdoor Science School; and Patrick Suttle, a current student at Virginia Wesleyan University.

Daily activities will once again include the popular "Shark Tank" presentations, which closely mirror the popular ABC television series, as well as interactive alumni and faculty career panels. Conference activities are free and open to the public.
