Watch Virtually: 2020 Commencement Ceremony
A virtual Commencent will take place December 4 due to the latest statewide COVID-19 directives
University News | November 23, 2020
Governor Northam’s latest directive associated with the pandemic has necessitated another change to Virginia Wesleyan University's 2020 Commencement plans. With gatherings now limited to just 25 people, the University's in-person ceremonies planned for December 5 and 6 have now been shifted to one virtual ceremony on Friday, December 4 at 7:00 p.m. on the VWU Digital Broadcasting Network (view the event program).
The Class of 2020 will still have an opportunity to return to VWU to celebrate their accomplishments, as Graduate Recognition Hours will be held on Saturday, December 5 from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Graduates can register for a time slot to come to the Susan S. Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center with up to five guests to pick up their diploma, pose for a socially-distanced graduation photo with VWU President Scott D. Miller and Vice President for Academic Affairs Maynard Schaus, and receive an exclusive Virginia Wesleyan alumni face covering and Class of 2020 tassel as a gift from the Office of Alumni Relations. The deadline to request a time slot is December 1.
For those graduates who are unable to attend, the University will mail diplomas at a later date. New graduates are asked to update their information with the Office of Alumni Relations to confirm their current mailing address.
