Virginia Wesleyan University’s eSports team is gearing up to host the 3rd Annual CompleteU Collision on the Coast, a premier Collegiate Rocket League LAN event, on March 29-30. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors CompleteU, Kellam Mechanical, and Lenovo+Intel, the event has grown into one of the largest in-person collegiate Rocket League tournaments in the country.
This year’s tournament will bring together 30 of the top collegiate teams from the East Coast and Midwest, including powerhouse programs like the University of Florida and four-time collegiate Rocket League national champions, the University of Akron. Teams will battle through group-stage and bracket play for a $3,500 prize pool, awarded to the top four finishers.
The competition will be streamed live on VWU eSports’ official Twitch page, https://www.twitch.tv/vwu_esports, with expert commentary provided by experienced casters Blake “MrBepic” Phillips and Jake “PyroJ” Bittner.
VWU eSports head coach, Brandon Kwon ‘23, emphasized the event’s rapid growth and credited its sponsors for making this expansion possible. "Since the inaugural year of Collision, the objective has always been to see how far we can grow this event. We started with 16 teams, and now we are hosting 30, making this the largest in-person collegiate event in years," said Kwon. "Collision on the Coast continues to expand, and that is reflected in our partnership with Lenovo+Intel, who are providing the main stage PCs and monitors. We hope to see continued growth in viewership and attendance for years to come."
With the support of CompleteU, Kellam Mechanical, and Lenovo+Intel, this highly anticipated tournament is set to deliver top-tier collegiate Rocket League action to both in-person attendees and online viewers. Fans won’t want to miss a second of the action as the 3rd Annual CompleteU Collision on the Coast cements its place as a premier event in the collegiate eSports landscape.
