Alen Curovic
Alen Curovic is an international student from Gothenburg, Sweden. He is double majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science and is a valuable member of VWU’s Men’s Tennis Team. Alen is grateful for the BHC to push him outside of his comfort zone and provide him with connections for life.
What is your BHC-related memory?
My favorite BHC memory is definitely going to Busch Gardens. There are a lot of fun activities to do there, and I can also spend time with friends, which is important.
What is your most significant takeaway from being a member of the Batten Honors College?
My most important takeaway is that I realized how important and easy it is to build connections with others.. By stepping out of my comfort zone and going out of my way to talk to others or being responsive when people come and talk to me, I have built many connections for life.
What is the most prominent skill that you have gained as a BHC student?
I have further enhanced my soft skills to connect more with different people. Participating in the Batten Honors Program has continuously improved my soft skills, such as communication and time management. This is because these skills are quite developed during our honors classes, which makes the whole college experience more enjoyable.
What advice would you offer to future Batten Honors College students?
To not be afraid to reach out to different people, and always present yourself in the best way possible. Do the most with your time here, and don't be afraid to make friends because that will make your experience so much better. And be on good behavior because you represent yourself and your family, no need to give out a distorted image of yourself.
Campus involvement:
I am part of the Tennis team and represent them as part of SAAC. I also work in IT during my free time.
Campus involvement:
I have been on the President's List three times and was selected as an ITA DIV 3 Scholar Athlete from 2022 to 2023.
What are your future goals after graduation?
I want to continue studying after college, and I am interested in pursuing a Master's in AI or Machine Learning because I find that very interesting.
