Director of the Career Development Program
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY (www.vwu.edu) seeks applications for the Director of Career Development and Internship Program.
The Director develops and implements a strategic plan to increase internship and career opportunities to a diverse student population. The position is a full-time, 12-month staff position that reports to the Executive Director of The Lighthouse: Center for Exploration and Discovery. Responsibilities include faculty collaboration; providing counseling to students on career planning, internship preparation, job search techniques, and graduate school; identifying and cultivating relationships with employers to develop externship, internship, and employment opportunities; managing the budget, and overseeing the ongoing assessment of programs.
The position requires a Master's degree in an appropriate field and experience administering career programs. Demonstrated ability to foster relationships with on- and off-campus partners is essential, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills. At least three years of professional experience, college teaching experience, and knowledge of Purple Briefcase, social media, and webpage design are preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience.
