VWU President Scott D. Miller was quoted in The Washington Post article "United Methodist university leaders call for LGBTQ acceptance by church," which was also published in the Laredo Morning Times in Texas. President Miller was also quoted in the Religion News Service article "Methodist university presidents call on denomination to amend LGBTQ policies." The topic was also covered in Inside Higher Ed and The Chronicle of Higher Education's Daily Briefing. The first interconnection of the regional fiber ring, celebrated at an event at Virginia Wesleyan University, was featured in the Inside Business column "Transatlantic cables create regional opportunities."
